Plot

As war looms on the horizon, the mighty Archadian Empure begins a campaign to subjugate its neighbors. The small kingdom of Dalmasca shares their fate, and it is here that our tale begins. Two years after the fate of Dalmasca, the citizens are without guidance and direction. In the captain city of Rabanastre, the people gather and await the appointment of the new consul from Archadia. To Vaan, a young man living on the streets of Rabanastre, the Empire is a hated enemy who took the life of his brother, the only family he had left. In an effort to extract revenge, Vaan hatches a plot to break into the palace and steal the occupying Imperials. In the events that follow, Vaan gets rather more than he bargained for when he runs into Princess Ashe, sole surviving heir to the Dalmascan throne. Together, the two will embark on an incredible journey through Ivalice, tracing the mysteries behind the Archadian Empire's invasion. The choices they make will determine the very fate of the world.

Dalmasca

An ancient kingdom with a noble history, Dalmasca arose in the time of B'nargin, second son of King Raithwall, the Dynast-King. The Dusk Shard, a relic left by King Raithwall, is passed down from generation to generation within the family, as a symbol of their unbroken bloodline. The kingdom spans the Galtean Peninsula, and, being situated at the meeting point of the continents of Valendia, Ordalia and Kerwan, thrives as a vital centre of trade. Dalmasca enjoys friendly relations with the neighbouring Kingdom of Nabradia, whose rulers also descend from the Dynast-King. Though Dalmasca had remained independent for over three centuries, the threat of Archadian aggression forces Dalmasca to enter into a treaty of mutual protection with Nabradia. When Nabradia is invaded, Dalmasca has no choice but to enter the war, and is quickly defeated by the overwhelming power of the Archadian Empire. The King of Dalmasca is assassinated shortly before a peace treaty can be signed, and, without a lawful successor to accede to the throne, the Kingdom falls under the dominion of the Archadian Empire.

[ ]Training Grounds
If you have just created your character, you can come here to train. This is a nice safe arena where you can train without fear of being attacked by other monsters. Come and hone your skills.

[ ]Rabanastre (5 sub-boards)
The capital city of Dalmasca. This place contains inns, shops, and people to talk to when you are bored. The area is also patrolled by guards and is a great place to go when you need to rest. the city is very large so be careful.

A whole part of the city is dedicated to a port where sea travelors bring exotic goods in. This place is so large it is like a city within a city!

The plains are the lush green areas surrounding Rabanastre. This area contains some weak monsters and is great for trainees.

This is the woods that has middle level monsters. The trees are thick here, especially as one gets deeper in. One could survive very well if they had a somewhat small frame like an older child's...

This is where the line between Rabanastre territory and the outside world is. In these limits you will find some small villages and higher level monsters.

[ ]Swamplands
The swamplands may look and smell bad, but they are respnsible for creatying some of the cleanest water around. Here you will find alot of high level reptilian monsters, so be careful.

As the temp. rises from the swamp, a desert slowly starts to emerge. There are many hardy monsters here who have adapted to the harsh environment, so be sure to bring some water with you.

[ ]Caverns
There are small patches of cave surrounding the extreme outer areas of Dalmasca. The monster in here have adapted to be able to see in the pitch blackness. Lights and infra-red goggles are recommended.

[ ]Mountains
The mountains rise high above Dalmasca from the base of the caves, aloowing you see for miles. It is pretty cold up here and there are high level monsters, so come only if you are very strong.

These high areas contain some of the best plants and water in the world since not many humes or other creatures have been able to reach such a high altitude. This is a good place to come and rest.

Archadia
[ ]Neutrino Gates (3 sub-boards)
The grand entrance to Archadia. The gates have a special mixture of neutrinos in their structure which makes an alloy that in unbreakable, so there is really no hope of escaping or entering, unless...

[ ]Mecha-City (3 sub-boards)
Archadia, having established it's control over Dalmasca has its headquarters in this capital city. It is massive, high tech, and very military like. Here, all the people have strict codes and curfews. Not a place to fool around.

[ ]Tundra
Archadia doesn't like to have too many visitors, so it's capital city was built in the center of a tundra. Once leaving Archadia, temperatures drop to -100 degrees, and there are many high lvl. ice elementals around. Be sure that you are bundled up upon leaving or entering.

[ ]Arctic
After passing the tundra leaving Archadia, things start to get slightly warmer in the Arctic. Here you have weaker ice elementals and some native polar monsters roaming around, be careful.

[ ]Rotting Bog
Archadia has done everything to keep everone out, and the bog is no exception. Still considered the outskirts of Archadia, you must travel through miles of sludge before reaching the Arctic. Have fun, oh and don't forget the poison type monsters found here.

[ ]Volcanic Archipeligos (3 sub-boards)
Besides conquering land, Archadia owns a string of volcanoes which are constantky making new land for them. No wonder they have become so strong. The volcanoes are surrounded by islands in which high lvl. pyro type monsters patrol, mostly fire elementals.
