Plot

As war looms on the horizon, the mighty Archadian Empure begins a campaign to subjugate its neighbors. The small kingdom of Dalmasca shares their fate, and it is here that our tale begins. Two years after the fate of Dalmasca, the citizens are without guidance and direction. In the captain city of Rabanastre, the people gather and await the appointment of the new consul from Archadia. To Vaan, a young man living on the streets of Rabanastre, the Empire is a hated enemy who took the life of his brother, the only family he had left. In an effort to extract revenge, Vaan hatches a plot to break into the palace and steal the occupying Imperials. In the events that follow, Vaan gets rather more than he bargained for when he runs into Princess Ashe, sole surviving heir to the Dalmascan throne. Together, the two will embark on an incredible journey through Ivalice, tracing the mysteries behind the Archadian Empire's invasion. The choices they make will determine the very fate of the world.

Dalmasca

An ancient kingdom with a noble history, Dalmasca arose in the time of B'nargin, second son of King Raithwall, the Dynast-King. The Dusk Shard, a relic left by King Raithwall, is passed down from generation to generation within the family, as a symbol of their unbroken bloodline. The kingdom spans the Galtean Peninsula, and, being situated at the meeting point of the continents of Valendia, Ordalia and Kerwan, thrives as a vital centre of trade. Dalmasca enjoys friendly relations with the neighbouring Kingdom of Nabradia, whose rulers also descend from the Dynast-King. Though Dalmasca had remained independent for over three centuries, the threat of Archadian aggression forces Dalmasca to enter into a treaty of mutual protection with Nabradia. When Nabradia is invaded, Dalmasca has no choice but to enter the war, and is quickly defeated by the overwhelming power of the Archadian Empire. The King of Dalmasca is assassinated shortly before a peace treaty can be signed, and, without a lawful successor to accede to the throne, the Kingdom falls under the dominion of the Archadian Empire.

The outer limits. The area where Rabanstre was no more. The area where Sora, Keibo and Moogle would begin there journey. A new dawn was approaching.

Literally, a new dawn was rising behind them, working it's way around the eastern sky to get it's grip on accending. Half regretting within herself afterward, Keibo warmly welcomed the sun. Things were so opposite in the city than out here. She hadn't remembered fearing the night since her last adventure, and she hadn't even admitted it to herself.

"Hey, Sora, you have a map? Out of all the things to pocket, I never pick up anything useful, it seems...."

Sora had been dying for an adventure, and he was glad that moogle felt the same way. Hopefully, Keibo wouldn't want to stay around here much longer. The sun was almost up and they had to leave. At least go anywhere except stay here. Sora was tired of hanging low in the woods, he needed to get out. "Say, we should get something to eat, last night's dinner wasn't exactly filling. The only problem is finding a place that won't see us as criminals, and unfortunately, information spreads fast. Do you have any ideas Keibo?"

"Yeah, we can walk into a nearby, slightly out-of-the-way Diner with outlaws in it." Keibo hissed, half under her breath. She sighed, practicly angry at the sun for it's exsistence. Her green eyes changed to a dark brown, and she walked away from teh moogle, and cleaned hr knife- again. "And if you call us heros, Moogle, then you have some things to think about. Right now we are criminals, and until we do something worth shining a light on, we're jsut as good as a little kid with a gun."

She steeped back up into a tree, picking a few peaches and rubbed it against her not so clean shirt. Probably doing more harm than good, she figured. She sunk her teeth into the fruit, tossing the other two at her companions. She came out of the tree, and began walking toward the thin of the place she once called home.

"Sorry guys, but I've got not clue why we are even out here. I left to get out of the city for a change. If you two want to head on a big adventure- I'll lead you out...but I'm stayin' here. Don't mind a little travel now and then, but a real task? I'm sorry. Not what I used to be. I've slacked off to long- probably faulted by the city air. maybe one day I can think about the stuff we did then. For now, I'm lying low. Running against some government thing isn't my place."

"One. I'm a theif, and as things are, I did not make you criminals, I just gave you the break for you to make yourselves." Keibo hissed. The moogle might not have herd her, but she continued none the less. "Two. If we split up, you two have a better chance of escaping becuase the guards didn't get a good look at you- just me. So if I'm not there, you have a much better chance of getting to where you want/need to go. Three, As a theif, that 'One for All' crap doesn't apply to my honor. I love by the creed, and that's the only thing you can call me on. And, unless you have memorized it through time, you still lack the ability to use it- sicne you are not thieves yourselves. Only a theif can call on another with the code- and that's the rule I follow. So."

Keibo looked at the sun, and thinking of the day of the year, she made a quick compass in the dirt with her dagger. She stepped aside so that Sora (who had not hid in a box...) could see the mainly-accurite compass. She put her universal tool away, and looked over to the supposed west.

"If you take it that way, from what I herd from Cax (He's been all over the place.) that there is a small place that keeps their house in good condition. Big place too. It's a ring of protection for people like thieves and thier needy friends. You can only stay a week at a time though. If you want I can get you the code in. he said they don't change it for cases like these. However, if they did change it, I'll give a refrence they should let you in on."

She looked back up to Sora. "That is, of course, if you want to take a theving word. If you want to look like a Knight in Armor, shining or not, this isn't the place to stay. Kills the honor suspect of things- cause they will think you're a theif when your not. Choice is yours."

'You'll wear out my sleeve if you kep doing that," Sora laughed. "Yes, Moogle I could use some adventure to." He looked at Keibo, "If you really want to stay here then I guess I can't stop you." He sighed, signing moogle to come along, he turned back. "Maybe one day we'll meet up again, but thanks for helping us escape those guards." He picked up Moogle, box and all and began heading out, he couldn't take staying here any longer. "Moogle are you ready to go?"

"Moogle i'm sad too" he said quietly, "but i'm sure we will meet up with her, and think, we have the entire world... I mean galaxy ahead of us, think of all the new friends we will make and places we will see!" He said happily, hoping to cheer the adorable moogle up. He said his one last goodbye to Keibo, "Well see you someday."

She did not wave, nor did she even wait for them to be beyond her vision before she turned away. She did not wish them well, but simply walked away. They could have their adventures, but Keibo, after all these years, was going home. Maybe if things had gone diffrently, maybe if she had heeded the advice, she would have gone with them. As for now, she couldn't stand to have a Hume and a Moogle with her every day...especially a moogle. Maybe if she could even read she would have went with them... Ah, forget it.
