Plot

As war looms on the horizon, the mighty Archadian Empure begins a campaign to subjugate its neighbors. The small kingdom of Dalmasca shares their fate, and it is here that our tale begins. Two years after the fate of Dalmasca, the citizens are without guidance and direction. In the captain city of Rabanastre, the people gather and await the appointment of the new consul from Archadia. To Vaan, a young man living on the streets of Rabanastre, the Empire is a hated enemy who took the life of his brother, the only family he had left. In an effort to extract revenge, Vaan hatches a plot to break into the palace and steal the occupying Imperials. In the events that follow, Vaan gets rather more than he bargained for when he runs into Princess Ashe, sole surviving heir to the Dalmascan throne. Together, the two will embark on an incredible journey through Ivalice, tracing the mysteries behind the Archadian Empire's invasion. The choices they make will determine the very fate of the world.

Dalmasca

An ancient kingdom with a noble history, Dalmasca arose in the time of B'nargin, second son of King Raithwall, the Dynast-King. The Dusk Shard, a relic left by King Raithwall, is passed down from generation to generation within the family, as a symbol of their unbroken bloodline. The kingdom spans the Galtean Peninsula, and, being situated at the meeting point of the continents of Valendia, Ordalia and Kerwan, thrives as a vital centre of trade. Dalmasca enjoys friendly relations with the neighbouring Kingdom of Nabradia, whose rulers also descend from the Dynast-King. Though Dalmasca had remained independent for over three centuries, the threat of Archadian aggression forces Dalmasca to enter into a treaty of mutual protection with Nabradia. When Nabradia is invaded, Dalmasca has no choice but to enter the war, and is quickly defeated by the overwhelming power of the Archadian Empire. The King of Dalmasca is assassinated shortly before a peace treaty can be signed, and, without a lawful successor to accede to the throne, the Kingdom falls under the dominion of the Archadian Empire.

Home Sweet Home

This was her tree from the very beginning of her story- before her mom died, before she met that dang moogle, before she met Sora at the colloseum. This was before it all. In the very beginning of her theif hood, when she discovered the power of her eyes- and how they could change at will. This is where her mommy used to take her to train, to learn the ways of her family. here, day after day, she recited the code to herself to memorize.

"Kei! Feel the ground. Listen closely, and use every sixth sense you have. What do you find?" Her mom cooed into her ear, a wide smile on her face.
"Moma...the police are comming through our wood!" She whispered, in a small horrorified whisper. "How did they find us?"
"Oh, they are just patroling. As long as we abide by the code and blend in, they can't possibly find us."

The two sat in the tree, watching the police march below them. Keibo winced to the loud footsteps and unbearable volumes of noises they made as they marched. They broke branches, scattered the squirrels and chased the birds from theri nests- all while never leaving the ground. Keibo was appauled. Yet, she held hr breath, and her mother was quiet- almsot to the point of non-exisistance.

And she should have... The policemen looked up, and saw Keibo with her mother, and raised their guns...

Keibo looked at the tree, about a foot taller than she was in her memory. Sitting in the same place, she began to devour her possom. When cooked right they were delicious. She looked across the tree, and saw two birds in a nest...on that very bow.

"I am sick and tired of you telling me what to do, Moogle!" Keibo hissed. "You have gone to far. I tried to be patient with the likes of you, but you are nothing but torture to be with!"
"Kiebo, what's the matter? You'll learn to read one day! Jsut relax...one step at a time..."
"Yes, yes Sai-Moogle. All things come a step at a time. First, I reach into my pocket. Second, I pull out this wire..."
"Keibo! I told you not to take that! That's a bloody wire of the Clovers'! It's a murderers' wire!"
"Then I wrap it around your neck, and the rest of your body.."
"Keibo what are you doin- KEIBO!! KEI-"
"And then, with my daggers I hang you from the tree! Yes, Sai-Moogle, all thigns come in steps."
And she watched the object swing lifelessly to and fro, until there was no carbon dioxide leaking from it. She then took her daggers, leaving the warm corpse to fall from it's place into the dust. She smiled, free. Out of respect, she covered it with leaves, and left.

Keibo wondered what Moogle and Sora were up to. Probably off on a grand adventure. Even in ehr deathly mindset, she wished them a silent well being. They were far off, far away from Keibo now- leaving ehr in the dear, dear solitude.

"Home Sweet Home."

Sdaji smelled something, well he smelled ALOT of things but this time it was different, could it have been a hume? He had a bad reputtio with them, especially when they called him 'lizard man'. "Who goes there?!" he said quicjly lifting up his bow in the direction of the scent. It was an old rustic bow, passed down from his grandfather, it was old but reliable, the best kind. He held the bow up, staying completely still to notice if the thing would move or not.

Kiebo turned her head. She lived here- or at least once did. What was the deal? She looked down at the lizard thing. She ahd seen a couple of those in the city. There was this one kid of that kind who stole ehr food every day...

"Boo." She hissed, not particularly in the best mood. "What's it to you if I sit up here?"

Seh knew they were blind. Yet, like one would persieve, their other senses were more than enough to make up for it. There was no reason to treat him handicapped. She drew her dagger on the opposite side of her, ready to fight if she had to. What a shame- she only wanted to relax.

Sdaji lowered his bow slightly, it wasn't an Archadian guard. Like everyone else, he had been dying to escape dalmasca, the once glorius city that had become a hellhole thanks to the guards. Sdaji, realizing that this person wasn't guard was probably returning home, so much for an abandond house. "I take it that you once lived here?"

"And do once again." Keibo mused, turning away as the attack was lowered against her. "You almost sound disappointed. Needed something to shoot at? Try a rabbit. Or a bird's nest."

She settled back into the tree, letting her hair flow over her eyes. She lay in the branches like a hammock, her stoumach filled with robin's eggs. She let her dagger rest at her side again, her off mood radiating. she felt the Lady Luck Dressphere in her pocket and the wtach she had stolen was quietly ticking away in her pocket.

"What's it to you anyways?"

Raz glided through the air, a nervous grin set on his face.
"Ha! You can't catch me! No samurai is going to walk into my bar and just sit there and just look at people, nope...." Raz was talking to himself, like he normally did when he was flying.

"What's one of 'dem bunny hooches doing in a bar anyways? Ain't they supposed to be like....what's the word....? Ethnocentric! Yeh, that's it! Oof!!" He crashed into a tree branch. In his little cloud of complaints, he didn't see where he was going.

Raz fell limply to the ground. He then shook his head and looked up at the bangaa and the thief hume in the tree above him.

"AHH! Don't hurt me!! I was yet a stray!" He whined automatically before he noticed that the two weren't real threats.

He blinked a few times at the bangaa and then at the girl. He recognized the thief in the tree.

"Heeey.......I know you!"

Keibo looked down, her scowl in full bloom. She raised her brow to the sight of a moogle, and then turned away. He probably saw her in the guild- he seemed to be a thief like herself. Uck, what a comparison. A moogle to herself...she wouldn't be saying that again any time soon.

"That's nice. Now it's bad enough I have one person snooping around my house, I don't need a moogle to come and rummage through my belongings."

She was silent a moment, and she could hear the clock ticking in her pocket. It was starting to drive her crazy. Nonetheless, she would wait until she could sell it. Besides, it kinda reminded her of the good times...in an odd way. To drown it out, she spoke again.

"What are you still standing there for? Don't either of you think I'm just gonna waste my time on making you tea or anything. Get away from my house, out of my wood, and go bother some Dalmascan Guard or something. He'll show the both of you a good place to stay."

"Hey!" Raz snapped, his angry side now beginning to inch its way out of his brain, "I didn't say was gonna be rummaging through anyone's belongings! Heck! I didn't even say I was gonna stay here! Have some courtesy, I justed crashed into a tree for cryin' out loud!!"

Raz gestured dramatically at his outburst.

"And DON'T even think of criticizing me for crashing into a tree! You would have a hard time paying attention too if you were running away from the inn, where a samurai viera just happened to walk in."

"The Inn." She recited, pausing a moment. He couldn't mean the inn. She looked at him closely, and then she knew. Focusing, she could smell that welcoming scent of Sharlmira's Inn. In common, the name was translated to 'comfort' or 'protection'. The name was well suited for it's guests. "A Samurai Bunny, eh? Foolish of you. You were safe where you were. If that was truely the circumstance, what drove you to run? You were protected by the code, if you speak the truth. Now that you have run from it, if she decides to come after you, you're doomed."

She laid back, a smile growing upon her. The thief's thoughts now flowed out of her mouth.

"Then again, let her come. That'll be fun to see a Bunny waster her energy on a stupid Moogle. It'll be a good show. Might as well cover yourself with carrot leaves so that she can actually find you. No need to deprive me of some worth-while entertainment."

"Aye!! FIRST of all....Do you honestly think that a viera is going to go by the code? The ones that actually leave their wood work in bug groups and samurai!!! Almost ALL of them are in the police force! They have a thing called backup." Raz continued on a sarcastic note,"Oh yeh, let 'er challenge me I don't care." He restored his seriousness, "One little blow of a whistle and we're drowning in guards and- Hey............" Raz finally hesitated and made a break in his defensive rant.

"Did you just call me a 'stupid Moogle?'"

"Yeah, I did." She hissed. She wasn't playing. "And, as I said, they can't go in alone. Someone who got them in, would control them. Stupid. Besides, even the Vierra cannot fight off an entire inn of thieves, outlaws, and the like. Mages are there too, and not to mention, the house itself has it's own magery in it's walls. without your consent, hands are off, even if the gloves are too."

Keibo leaped down from the tree, landing without noise. She raised her form from a Spider-man squat, stading with her daggers in her left hand behind her. The eyes in her skull swirled their green, churning it into a dark blue, almsot black. They sparked with a bright orange, then settled in their darker blues. She breathed heavily from her nose, as if smoke would come from her nostrils. From a Moogle perspective, she was not the mostner to mess. All she needed were fangs.

"Trust me. I know."

"That's not the issue at hand now..." Raz hissed back as he took out his own weapon. His 'Phillips Shock sticks' which was basically two Phillips screw drivers with little generators in the handle that sent electricity through the metal part. A weapon of his own creation and one he was quite proud of. The best part was, unless you held the tools close to each other to generate sparks in between, the negative charge was completely invisible and looked like common place tools.

"You insulted my race..." Raz was very proud of being a moogle and defensive of all of his people.
"Do you see me going around insulting humes? Don't think you go around insulting moogles because we are a minority."

"I don't care if there is one, or fifty. My thumb remains the same, and so does it's ruling." Keibo hissed every word clearly so that even the Moogles could understand her. She hated them. Every. Single. One. "And you know what, that Bunny is now no longer a worry. Guess what twit, I'm your concern now."

Keibo took her strides, her feet making no more noise than a great cat*, let her daggers glide, dance and twirl about her fingers. Her eyes sparked wildly, the moon's gazed boiling about her from. She didn't have her 'other' dressphere on, but she didn't need it to pumel up and hang yet another moogle. So what- what was the worse he could do? Scratch up a screw or something? She never liked philips. She was a flat-head fan, and thus, he wouldn't make a scratch on her.

Or, at least she hoped. She wasn't going to go through life with a freakin' scar from a moogle. Not from a race so 'High and Mighty', not from anyone who thinks they can get away with being fuzzy. Keibo's old and half-buried fury was sapped from the old hanging place. Her daggers were poised. She just waited for that little creep to mov toward her. Just. Waiting.
