History
An ancient kingdom with a noble history, Dalmasca arose in the time of B'nargin, second son of King Raithwall, the Dynast-King. The Dusk Shard, a relic left by King Raithwall, is passed down from generation to generation within the family, as a symbol of their unbroken bloodline.
The kingdom spans the Galtean Peninsula, and, being situated at the meeting point of the continents of Valendia, Ordalia and Kerwan, thrives as a vital centre of trade. Dalmasca enjoys friendly relations with the neighbouring Kingdom of Nabradia, whose rulers also descend from the Dynast-King.
Though Dalmasca had remained independent for over three centuries, the threat of Archadian aggression forces Dalmasca to enter into a treaty of mutual protection with Nabradia. When Nabradia is invaded, Dalmasca has no choice but to enter the war, and is quickly defeated by the overwhelming power of the Archadian Empire.
The King of Dalmasca is assassinated shortly before a peace treaty can be signed, and, without a lawful successor to accede to the throne, the Kingdom falls under the dominion of the Archadian Empire.
