Vega held her left arm out, for it was armored for her pet. She was still a bit greived over her old bird, the one she scavanged the world with...but for now what would she do? Dahyro'in was six foot under now, and she ahd this new bird to train. It felt awkward- she hadn't even given him a name yet. She truely felt alone on that plain...
She watched the new boy fly aorund, ajusting to his wings. He had hatched a few weks ago, and now it was time to teach him what her old friend knew so well to survive. He was a gray-ish brown, as opposed to the vibrant Red, but he would soon gain his colors when he grew older. The long tail reminded her of a Pheonix, their beauty envied by all creatures. Maybe this one wouldn't be so bad after all.
He soon grew tired, and landed roughly on ehr arm. He wasn't sensitive to her as Dahyro'in had grown- this guy was used to using his claws. She winced, and let him land. A few moments later she began to soothe him by stroking his small crest. He would be a wonderful bird- once he gained his true wings...inside and out. Until then, Vega felt all on her own.

"The wind is changing...." Vibeke mumbled to herself. She was seated onto of a large rock, admiring the view of the mountain scape. She looked down at the vast plain. Empty except for a solitary soul with her bird? Guess so.
Vibeke sensed nothing threatening about the company in the field and decided to go down there and socialize, she has nothing better to do.
"Nice bird." she chimed, "What kind is it?"

She looked up to the tall ears. She hadn't seen one of these in ages. She noded in greeting, then went about answering the question.
"I call them Johiros, but what they really are I can never pronounce. Brilliant birds. It's said that senses are greater than msot Birds of Prey. My old one proved them right. Wonderful companions. If one isn't picky about food they will never go hungry with these things on their side. PRetty decent when it comes to sneak attacks also- since they have this special way to beat their wings, they are silent flyers."
The bird grew restless on ehr arm, and began to panic and squawk. Vega sighed. She calmed him again, looking into his wild eyes. He relaxed, trapped in erh gaze of authroity. The bird made a distainful click adn settled down again.
"My apologies. My name is Vera, and he doesn't have a name yet. You?"

Vibeke liked the sense of presence this person gave you. She seemed to be precise and kept to the point. Vibeke probably wouldn't have even greeted her if she wasn't going to get along with her. She got along with very few. This was an event.
"I am known by most as Vibeke." The viera chimed in her cool, smooth, unbroken voice, "Sadly, there is not much more to say." Vibeke didn't have much of a history. She was a samurai, but that was pretty obvious even from a first glance. Her likes, dislikes, and personality trait were quickly learned and remembered.
Vibeke was a viera of few words. She didn't like to elaborate on anything that didn't require explanation. She liked to get to the point, and liked people that shared her trait.

Vega nodded in greeting. Sometimes, especially with this samurai, a few words went further than a whole slobber of meaningless syllables. Good- because it seemed the bird like quieter people. Thinking of the bird, Vega put her finger under the nameless chin and turned the head toward the Vierra.
"Think Zephyr fits?" Vega tilted her head to the side. "Means 'West Wind'. And yes, I did get this one west from here."
She liked the name, but she always wanted a second opinion. Besides,k if this one could accent upon it, maybe it would have a better sense. It seemed to Vega she was picky- and if it passed her it must be a good name. Vibeke...that in itself was a good name. Maybe...slim chances, but Vega hoped she would no longer travel alone.

"Zephyr...?" Vibeke breathed as sh leaned in to look at the bird.
Zephyr, to Vibeke, was the kind of name the made you envision a strong but gentle soul that had a dominating sense of modesty and humbleness, but not so much as to not be able to hold your head up high and live with pride in yourself.
Now, Vibeke didn't know anything about th bird's personal nature, but the visual illustration of the name seemed to match the bird itself. Particularly its facial features. And Vega's reasoning to the name suggestion was convincing enough for her. "It's a nice name." She gave her approval with a faint grin.

Vega gave a small smile. "Zephyr it is."
She called to him softly, and he learned to respond to the sound. She could tell- he liked the way it sounded himself. She let her own eyes half close in satisfaction. It had that...'ring'...to it. With proud fingers, she stroked his wings, and he spread them. Getting the idea, he took to the sky just a bit above them.
Looking away from the bird, yet keeping her arm out for him, Vega turned to Vibeke. Might as well ask what she knew of the rising situation. It didn't worry her much, Vega was a wilderness person and cities rarely concerned her, but still. It was good to keep one's thumb on things.
"What do you know of the upcomming?"

"The upcoming?" Vibeke sighed, "Not much. The only thing I can say is what everyone knows already. But every since Archadia began to put down the rest of its empires, the general population, especially city population, has been in a constant state of unrest."
Vibeke paused, carefully choosing her words so that she didn't confuse herself with and excess of description. "The crime rate increased by 32% the past few months, and people like me are being hired to control it."
The samurai looked back the the sky, the newly named Zephyr flying above her head. The winds were particularly restless today. They were changing directions every few minutes.

"Some people never learn. When authority shifts, people think they can get away with things- and they do." Vega sighed. There was this one thief girl she met in the city once, talented little snot. She couldn't read, but she could steal about everything but your pants before you noticed. Well, that's slightly exaggerated, but whatever. "Sad thing. But, since your out to handle the problem..."
She paused, looking up at her new companion. Vega wondered if he could handle this kind of thing. Then again, if he never tried, he would never learn to. Decision made, she settled herself to ask.
"..I have always been out against these characters myself. And, if you would allow, I would enjoy the company. Sometimes birds just don't cut it..."

Vibeke gave her hint of a smile. It was official. This person was her type.
She never liked to be the one to ask if she could travel with people. She was just self centered like that. "Sure. Being that there isn't much for me to do anyway. Accompanying a fellow server of justice is better that spending idle hours polishing already glittering weapons."
Vibeke began to get slightly more wordy the way she did when she was in the presence of ones that she trusted. The main reason she didn't like to elaborate on this was that in the fluff, she could possibly say something she would regret. In the presence of a trusted on, however, she felt free to let her words flow more easily.
"In which direction are you headed?"

"Recently I have been heading toward the port." Vega mused, happy now to have a friend. "I herd they have some new exclusive things for the birds. However, I'm sure they have a greater variety of everything else in stock also."
The bird fluttered around a bit, and she saw his wings weaken. She let out a low, soft whistle, and he returned to her. Zephyr dipped his head, and soon resprang into the sky. He seemed determined, now with a name. Vega smiled softly. This was good. Maybe he would be the strong bird she needed after all. With each wind changing restlessly, it was building up his wings quickly. Maybe in a week or so, she could teach him a few hunting techniques and a trick or two.
"Also, on the way there is this...'house' I would like to look into. I herd of thief bands speaking of it highly." Her tone lowered, her suggestions thickening. "It would be an interesting stop."

Vibeke's tone darkened, and an aire of seriousness set into her aura. Her hand automatically went to the handle of her sword and just held it there. The blade itself making a click and it shifted in its sheath.
"Sounds like thief's port in itself." She spoke darkly. "I believe, that if we do indeed visit this 'house' of yours, there will be a gain in merit for the both of us." Vibeke's dark sneer turned into a coniving grin.
Merit was always an issue with Vibeke, which is one f the many advantages to being a devoted Justice server. No dirty little secrets were kept by her, she was notorious for tattle-tailing and what-not.

"So," Vega smiled, calling Zephyr to her. He came immediately, which she liked very much. She rose to her feet, and pulling out something like a peach, she gave a piece to her bird, to herself, and offered some peach (she had cut it, not bit it mind you) to her new friend. "We going or what?"

"I'd say." Vibeke chimed as she took a small nibble the the piece of peach. She stood tall as she looked out in the direction of the port. ((North, South, East, West???))
"If we do start going, now is a good time. It is early yet, we can have a good distance behind us by nightfall."
She looked down at her new traveling partner, "Oh, and if we are going to be traveling together," Vibeke paused, "You can call me Sigi."
((This thread is pretty much over. B3))
